Form IEPF-5: Claiming From IEPF
What it is
IEPF-5 is the online form used to claim shares or dividends back from the Investor Education and Protection Fund. Filing it is only half the process. The company’s Nodal Officer then checks the claim before the IEPF Authority approves it, so two parties are involved, not one.
When you need it
Your shares or dividends have moved to IEPF and you’re entitled to claim them.
You’re claiming as the legal heir of someone whose shares went to IEPF.
An earlier IEPF claim was rejected and you’re refiling after fixing the problem.
When you don’t
The shares are still with the company, so you claim through the registrar instead.
You haven’t confirmed that the shares actually moved to IEPF. Check that first, because the wrong route costs months.
