What if my ITC share certificate has an old address on it?
That’s fine. We confirm your identity with other documents, not the old address. ITC’s investor service centre updates your address as part of the process.
How do I know if my ITC shares moved to IEPF?
If dividends went unpaid for 7 years in a row, the shares are transferred to IEPF by law. We check whether that happened to your shares.
Does a bonus issue or stock split affect my ITC claim?
It can add to it. Bonus shares and splits are counted against your original holding, so you may be owed more shares than the certificate shows. We work out the full number.
I only have the certificate, no folio number. Can you still check?
Yes. A name and a company are enough to begin. The folio number makes it quicker, but the registrar can also search using the holder’s name and the certificate details.
The name on the certificate is spelled differently from my ID.
That’s common and not a blocker. Initials, full first names and married names are the usual reasons. There’s a set process to link them, and we prepare it with you.
The shareholder has died. Can the family still claim the ITC shares?
Yes. The shares pass to the nominee, or to the legal heirs if there’s no nominee, through transmission. We tell you which applies first.
Does it cost anything to check?
No. Checking is always free, for all your assets and as many times as you need. Nothing is filed without your written permission, and no fee is due until a claim process starts.
How do I know if my ITC shares are unclaimed?
If dividends stopped reaching you, or you hold a paper certificate you’ve never converted, the holding may be unclaimed. We check the registrar’s records and, if needed, IEPF.
Can I claim ITC shares that are in a parent’s name?
Yes, in most cases. If the parent has died, the shares move to the nominee or heirs through transmission. We tell you exactly which papers your family needs.
